WSP vs ATR: the difference
WSP — due 30 April
Your forward-looking plan: the training you intend to provide over the next 12 months, which employees, which qualifications and estimated costs. Synthro pre-fills it from your team's skills gaps and active learnerships.
ATR — due 30 June
Your backward-looking report: training actually completed, certificates earned, NQF credits and actual spend vs budget. Synthro generates it from your logged training records.
NQF level tracking
South Africa's National Qualifications Framework has 10 levels. Synthro tracks each employee's current NQF level and maps qualification pathways to your training programmes.
Why it matters
Non-compliance costs more than a missed levy claim.
It hits your B-BBEE score, your tender eligibility and your workforce development.
R0 back
SDL non-submission
Employers who do not submit WSP/ATR forfeit their mandatory grant — typically 20% of SDL paid. For a R5M payroll, that is R10,000 a year lost.
20 points
B-BBEE impact
Skills Development is worth 20 of 109 points on the Generic B-BBEE scorecard. Missing SETA submissions drops your level and costs you tenders.
R80,000+
Learnership tax break
Section 12H of the Income Tax Act gives up to R80,000 tax allowance per learnership completion. Synthro tracks eligibility so you never miss a claim.
49.5% SDL
PIVOTAL grants
PIVOTAL grants fund up to 49.5% of SDL for structured programmes. Synthro flags qualifying training automatically.
